Spreading the WORD

While I am on my walks around the neighborhood I often see many interesting things littering the streets.  Today, I saw a small orange Bible.  It was the kind of Bible they give out to visitors, who come inside a sanctuary to see if they are comfortable in the presence of God, or being in the same place with believers.  At first, when I saw this little Bible in the street, I thought to myself it had fallen out of someone's car because it was along the curb in front of the elementary school. As I walked on I discovered a few pages had fallen out and maybe had been blown by the wind onto the sidewalk.  It was only a few steps farther that I saw and realized there was a battle with satan being fought within someone.  It was the pages that were ripped into pieces that gave it away and the pages that were wadded up into tight little balls of paper.  I walked on thinking about this poor tortured person who had this battle going on inside and remembered that I was in the same place, not so long ago, and I thanked God for winning my battle and never giving up on me.

Race Against Time

I knew this day would eventually come.  Just 9 days into the project and it happened.  It all started with the "selves".  One self said, "You don't have to get your 30 minutes in right now. Just have a morning where you don't have to exercise. You can do it later..."  I think I will name this self, "Don't".  The other self said, " You know you better do it now,  if you listen to "Don't", you are never going to fit it in today, if you don't go now, you won't want to exercise at the end of a long day at work!"  I will name this self, "Dooit".  So, "Dooit" and "Don't" had a long, drawn out, argument this morning and my body just sat there listening, waiting for a decision to be made about whether we were going to exercise for a least 30 minutes.  Then the eyes looked at the clock and sided with "Dooit", then my poor body had to engage in a race against time, as out the door we all flew, body complaining all the way about how a decision to go for a walk can't be made in a timely fashion.

Jackpot

I went for another walk today, it sounds kinda boring, it was to start with very dull. It starts like it always does, I get up, put on the same old exercise clothes, ( I only have one set that does not get all stressed out about having to go for a walk) and out the door I go to walk the same old route around the "hood".  I've tried walking in the the other direction and it's the same, only backwards.  I get to see another angle of the tree, house, or flower bed, (thats a thrill and a half).  Since, I found a dime the other day, on my walk, my eyes are mostly scanning the pavement for a slightly higher reward.  I would be happy with 25 cents, but today I found a dollar!  It was all folded up, and my heart raced as I unfolded it thinking, just maybe, more was folded up inside. It was just a dollar.  I would have never seen it had I not crossed the street to avoid getting hit by an oncoming truck who was pulling off the curb, to head off to work.  So, all total I have collected, $1.11, for my efforts.  Maybe, like Julie, I should set up paypal on my site, and you could all pay me to exercise.  I think I'll put the money I found toward my new walking shoes!

Downtown

I went "Down to Tummy Town" today.  A friend of mine, who has decreased the population of her Tummy Town, told me she has been doing the 8 Minute Ab routine on the internet.  I gave it a try with my sister who has never had to drag around a continent, let alone two.  I can't believe how quickly she started to whine.  I think we were 3 minutes into the video,  when she started to ask how much longer she had to endure the torture, of course, she is over fifty years old (52 to be exact).  And before you ask, yes, we went for a good 30 min plus walk around Liberty Lake.

Normally Reality

Normally when one determines to exercise and set up an exercise regime, they go about it with some thought and clarity, and they ponder for awhile about how to go about it and what exercise they want to target and what days they want to do it.  Not me, not this time, I must have had a moment of insanity when I set this project up.  Reality set in today, you see, it's Saturday, and normally one would take a break from exercising after 5 days of it.  I woke up at 8am, and said to myself , "Self, it's Saturday and you don't have to go to work today, but guess what, you have to exercise. "  It's hard to have a conversation with "self" when you don't agree with "self", and you know "self" is right about the topic, but you disagree with "self" and you want to argue with "self", but which "self " will win?  This must be where normally reality sets in.  The reality is, almost 50, overweight, family history of heart disease....I went for a walk today.

Profitable

Today, I was on the road again.  It was sunny out but a little bit nippy.  I know that exercising will be good for me, my health will benefit, my heart will profit, my clothes will relax.  My clothes have been really uptight lately, stressed to the max.  I didn't know clothes could get so stressed out.  Who would ever think that by being overweight our clothes would suffer like that.  Anyway, I have always wanted to make money by exercising. Wouldn't it be easy if you got PAID to exercise?  That would be a dream job....well I got paid today for my 30 minutes of exercise.  I found a dime in the road.  Its not enough to run to the bank with, mind you, but I felt good about it.  The other day I found a penny.  I didn't feel like it was enough to write about, but today, a whole dime is worth shouting about in these economic times.

Dilemma: A problem involving a difficult choice...

It rained today.  Normally it is not a dilemma for the trees, grass, etc..., but it is for someone who hates to exercise.  Going for a walk does not feel like exercise, normally you don't have to break a sweat and you can walk for 30 minutes and say that you exercised for the day.  Not today, I had a dilemma...... My dilemma started with, "what do I drag out from the pile of exercise equipment I have in the spare room, garage, under the house, and back of the closet?  I settled for exposing the stationary bike that was 6 ft under a pile of clothes at the end of my bed.  I raised it from the dead and climbed on, gingerly, and got a glimpse of my profile in a mirror.  I discovered "Bootyville" has a neighboring continent....like any good pioneer discovery I got to name it....lets call this continent "Tummy Town".
